Full First Aid Course Overview
The contents of this course comply with the First Aid Regulations which came into force in July 1982.
This is an examination course and participants will be tested by qualified examiners and issued with a certificate if successful.
Participants must be willing to practice their first aid skills once qualified, should they be called to do so.
Course Content
v Resuscitation
v Control of bleeding
v Treatment of shock
v Treatment of unconscious patient
v Dressing and immobilisation of injured parts
v Contents of first-aid boxes and their use
v Transport of sick and injured patients
v Treatment of injuries
v Treatment of burns or scalds
v Simple record keeping
v Poisons and substances capable of causing poisoning
v Personal hygiene in dealing with wounds
v Communication and delegation in an emergency
Course Dates: All courses start at 9:00am
10th, 11th, 12th & 13th September 2007
15th, 16th, 22nd & 23rd October 2007
5th, 12th, 9th & 26th November 2007
10th, 11th, 17th & 18th December 2007
Costs: £190 for Non-Members, £160 for Members
Certificate: Approved by HSE and issued by HDTT upon completion of course.

Refresher Course First Aid Training
Refresher First Aid Course Content
The contents of this course comply with the First Aid Regulations which came into force in July 1982
This is a re-examination course and participants will be tested by qualified examiners and issued with a certificate if successful.
Participants must hold a current certificate at the start of the course.
Course Content:
v The format of this course uses videos as well as a question and answer session.
v General revision of basic first aid functions and method
v New methods, new legislation relating to first aid
v Resuscitation and management of the unconscious patient, resuscitation
v Control of bleeding, personal hygiene in dealing with wounds
v Treatment of fractures, bandaging and immobilisation of injured parts
v Major emergencies
v Record Keeping
Course Dates: All courses start at 9:00am at Textile House
3rd & 4th September 2007
8th & 9th October 2007
6th & 13th November 2007
3rd & 4th December 2007
Costs: £130 non-members, £100 for members
Certificate: Approved by HSE and issued by HDTT upon completion of course.
