Incubator

Business Incubation

Each selected new business will enjoy a ‘state-of-the-art’ customised working environment – the Design Studio - with full CAD facilities. Professional help and advice will cover every aspect of starting and running a business. Practical support will be provided by a local business ‘mentor’ and all the resources of the Textile Centre of Excellence (TCoE) will be available to each selected business.

The TCoE offers modern facilities for warping and weaving, and a fully equipped testing lab. The Centre’s Clothing Studio offers cutting, embroidery, bonding and pressing kit plus a Lectra sizing system and the latest Digital Printing equipment. All have expert technician support.

The Centre also has facilities for IT training at all levels, exhibition and meeting space and excellent communications equipment including video conferencing.

We are looking for talented people with sound business ideas that ‘match’ the current or future direction of local manufacturing companies. Company leaders will help us select designers who demonstrate the attitude and conviction to succeed in business, and whose work is relevant to their marketplace.

The main agencies – Business Link and the Chamber of Commerce will provide advice and support on all aspects of business start-up including business planning, marketing and access to finance. Independent, professional advice will also be available on legal, financial, employment and contracting issues. The business mentors will provide tailored, personal advice, support and practical help as each business grows. The TCoE will provide serviced, online platforms for e-business.

The Centre is a 5 minute bus ride from town (Huddersfield), with buses every 10 minutes. Ample secure parking is available on site.

The Design Incubator will provide practical help in just about every way to improve the chances of your business succeeding and growing fast. That should give you a real advantage, but there are no guarantees, success is down to you.

Talk to us. And talk to your faculty if you’re still at Uni/College. Start preparing your business idea and your business plan so we can see how your ideas match up with the local companies.
